I had a Redstart - very similar to a Voyager - back in the 1970s. Redstarts were 14'6' long - the additional 1'6' was for a stern locker aft of the cockpit. Redstarts, up to about sail No 84, were fin keel; after that, some were built with bilge keels.Voyagers were bilge keel, and I have never seen a fin keel Voyager.

Some time ago, the name Redstart seems to have been dropped; there was a boat for sale at Ludham Bridge, Norfolk, a couple of years ago that was said to be a Voyager 14, but was in all respects a Redstart, save that the hull colour was blue - all Voyagers were blue, and all Redstarts were red.

In about 1978, I used to see a Voyager on the Norfolk Broads that had been sailed round from Burnham on Crouch, and I believe the owner did that several times.

My Redstart was very fast for her size, and very handy to sail, either single-handed or with my son as crew.

I have very fond memories of that boat, and it broke my hear to have to sell her - to a guy in Kings Lynn.

If anyone wants to gossip about Redstarts, I will be very happy to join in.

Best wishes,

Ian
